ON THE PROPOSED N90 BILLION TO STATE GOVERNORS- Comrade Monday Ameh

I wish to commend the federal government for once again like a caring and loving father intervening to assist state government with the proposed N90 billion loan especially now that some of them are finding it very difficult to pay workers salary.
However, I wish to suggest to the federal government that as part of the conditionality for granting the loan, the ICPC and EFCC should monitor the disbursement and utilization of the loan bumper to bumper because some governors have penchants for diverting money into frivolous and white elephant projects that don't have direct bearing on the masses.

I challenge governors in this era of austerity to think outside the box in order to optimize their Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) and to tap the abundant mineral resources domiciled in their states instead of waiting for monthly Federal allocation and bail out funds to meet their basic obligation to the people
Finally, I call on the anti-graft agencies to investigate fully and summarily the first bail out funds given to some governors specifically for payment of backlog of salary and pension arrears owed workers to ascertain whether or not the funds was judiciously used for that purposes
GOD BLESS NIGERIA
