The All Progressive Congress, APC, stakeholders in Ado Local government area of Benue state met today, Sunday 7th at the Council Hall of the Local government Secretariat in Igumale where they spoke glowingly of the need for the candidate of the APC, Daniel Onjeh to emerge victorious at the February 20th senatorial rerun election in the zone and why the Former Senate President David Mark should not be allowed to return to the National Assembly. Here are their speeches in brief;
  • We must bury our differences, unite and give overwhelming victory to APC in the re-run senatorial election – Paul Udenyi, Council Chairman.
-We must have to change the political direction of our people. Ado should be angrier with David Mark’s continues stay in the Senate than any other community in ldoma land. When we work for Mark we get nothing. I coordinated his campaign in 2007 and l benefited only 500 naira. Enyi Obande directed his campaign and benefited only in death. But when Abba Moro from another local government coordinated his campaign once, he got a ministerial appointment. An Ado son was also killed because of Mark during electioneering. As a result, Ado people must reject David Mark Totally – Joseph Ogezi, Adviser on Religion
-David Mark cannot be allowed to return to the Senate. I am volunteering myself as a polling unit agent for APC and will work together with other party stalwarts in Akpoge-Ogbilolo Ward to ensure a zero vote for PDP – Bernard Ochepa, APC state caucus member.
  • Be a stakeholder by going home and mobilizing for the victory of APC. In my own ward, the issue is no longer about APC winning because that has been settled a long time ago. What is going on now is debate among the polling units on which will record zero for PDP – John Ochoga, Chairman, TAC Onjeh campaign.
  • PDP has the money but APC has the power and this will certainly play out in the rerun poll. We must then ask ourselves of these two, which will be of benefit to us as a people. You can please take their money but APC remains your best bet. Diana Ochoga, APC Chieftain.
  • In 2013, the Otukpo- Igumale- Agila road surfaced in our National budget. All it needed was for David Mark who was Senate President at that time to appropriate funds to it, but he deliberately refused. That to me shows that Mark has a pathological hatred for Ado people. We must leverage on this opportunity of a rerun poll to permanently send him away. – Ede Ogaba Ede, Chief Press Secretary to the Deputy Governor
  • The victory of Dan Onjeh is the survival of us all in Ado. Mark who had maintained that idoma could not afford to be in the minority cannot turn around today and say we should embrace a minority party. The game is simply up for the elder statesman. Onma Ogenyi, APC new entrant.
    • PDP has lost its popularity. So its members are merely appealing to sentiments and divulging antics. I urge you not to fall for it – Sunday Oche, APC Chieftain.
    • It is true that to whom much is given much is also expected. The APC government has given so much to the people of Ado as reflected in recent appointments in the state. Therefore, it is only natural that so much will be given to the party in this rerun election. My only appeal is for Mark to withdraw from the race as a face saving exercise or prepare to face an unimaginable defeat. John Onoja, Commissioner of Housing and Urban Development.
