Benue South rerun: Onjeh not stepping down for Mike Onoja - APC
The Benue State Chapter of All Progressives Congress, APC has debunked media reports that the party’s Benue South senatorial candidate, Comrade Daniel Onjeh was going to be replaced.
Several online media platforms had reported that APC party elders were prevailing on Daniel Onjeh, to step down for Chief Mike Onoja, a former Permanent Secretary at the Federal Ministry of Defence.
According to APC Director of Publicity, John Ikwulono, the reports were baseless and called on the general public to ignore them.
” The attention of the Benue State Chapter of All Progressives Congress APC has been drawn to an online publication by the PDP Mouthpiece Trent, alleging that the party has finalized plans to replace Senatorial candidate of APC in the February rerun election Comrade Daniel Onjeh with Mike Onoja.
” This is a disreputable lie from the opposition PDP to distract the good people of Zone C from voting Dan Onjeh to victory come February 20.
” We urge the general public to disregard the baseless rumour. APC believes in the rule of law and cannot do anything of such.
” Let me inform those who may not know, that unless a candidate withdraws from the race, he or she cannot be replaced in a court-ordered rerun.
” Onjeh was duly nominated as the flag bearer of APC during the last primary and he still stands as the legitimate candidate for the rerun.”
